What is Nylon Flag Fabric?
Nylon is a superior nylon flag fabric which is used in all of our nylon flags. Our nylon flags feature SolarMax nylon by DuPont which is tough, durable, long lasting and specifically designed for active outdoor use. SolarMax fabrics exhibit tremendous strength retention under UV exposure and are highly resistant to UV fading. A nylon flag will fly in the slightest breeze and is a lighter weight fabric than our PolyMax flags which are ideal for windy conditions but require more wind to fly.
What is PolyMax Flag Fabric?
PolyMax 2-ply polyester blend fabric is extremely strong and durable. This flag fabric resembles cotton in appearance but is more durable than cotton. Because the fabric is heavier than nylon, it requires more wind to fly than our nylon flags. It perfect for windy conditions or for a flag that is flown 24/7. It is resistant to most chemicals as well as mildew and abrasion resistant. PolyMax flags are the most durable flags available. The strength of this fabric increases the life of the flag making it the most superior flag fabric in today’s marketplace. PolyMax is available in American, Military and State Flags.
What is Cotton Flag Fabric?
Cotton Flags use traditional heavyweight 2×2 ply mercerized cotton bunting. The extra rugged weave actually exceeds U.S.Government specifications. The most modern dyeing techniques ensure brilliant colors. Flags feature 1 1/2″ heavy-duty, bright white cotton polyester blend army duck header with solid brass #2 rolled rimmed, tooth washer grommets. These American cotton flags have sewn stripes and embroidered stars. Cotton American Flags, size 5′x9 1/2′ are often used for military burial rites. Cotton flags are not recommended for prolonged outdoor use. Often cotton flags are used for indoor display or as a special keepsake flag. We recommend our nylon or Polymax fabric flags for outdoor use.
What is SolarMax Nylon?
SolarMax Nylon is a tough, durable, long lasting nylon specifically designed for active outdoor use. SolarMax fabrics exhibit tremendous strength retention under UV exposure as well as world-class tensile and tear strength. Because of its strength, SolarMax fabrics will increase overall performance. SolarMax fabrics are highly resistant to UV fading, allowing the use of deeper, brighter colors that will last over time. In addition, SolarMax fabrics offer better washfastness and lightfastness than other nylons of similar fabric construction. SolarMax is a registered trademark of INVISTA.
What is Aniline-Dye Process?
Aniline-Dye Process is the process used on our Military, State, Civilian Service and International Flags. The aniline dye process duplicates complex emblems with exacting accuracy in brilliant, fast colors. The flags are dyed rather than printed, so that the emblem/design and flag colors permeate the fabric.
DEFINITIONS:
Sewn Flag: Each stripe is sewn separately. Stars will be embroidered or appliqued. The product description will indicate if a flag is sewn.
Printed Flag: Using a dye and printing process, the stripes or design is imprinted on the fabric. The edges of the flag are sewn-but not the individual stripes, emblems or designs.
Aniline-Dye Process: This process is used to print designs on our military, historical, international and state flags. This process duplicates complex emblems with exacting accuracy in brilliant, fast colors.
Pole Hem: This is a hem on the left side of the flag that a pole can pass through. Pole Hems are useful for indoor flag sets, parades and outdoor decorative poles. A “tab” is sewn into the sleeve of the flag. This tab is attached to your flag pole hardware to keep the flag from sliding down on the pole
Fly End: This is the side of the flag opposite the header and grommets. Generally this is the end of the flag that is “free” and gets “snapped” in the wind.
SOLID BRASS GROMMETS allow for your flag to be fastened to the flagpole with flag snaps or straps. Grommets are placed in the flag HEADER. The header is made from a strong material. This photo shows a grommet placed in a header.
EMBROIDERED STARS are machined stitched onto the flag.
APPLIQUED STARS is a separate star using SolarMax nylon that is added to the flag and machine stitched into place.
METAL THIMBLES are included on all flags 8′x12′ and larger. Nylon rope is sewn into the strong canvas header with galvanized metal thimbles on the ends. Grommets are also included in this size flag.
STITCHING: Seams are double-stitched and fly ends have either 2, 4, 6 or 8 rows of double-stitching depending upon flag size.
