A traditional ground-mounted flagpole with the rope (halyard) exposed on the outside. Easy to operate and cost-effective for residential and light commercial use.
A ground-mounted flagpole with the rope system hidden inside the pole and secured with a lockable access door. Ideal for high-traffic or public areas where security and clean appearance are priorities.
A vertical pole with a horizontal crossarm to fly multiple flags at once. Popular at fire departments, marinas, and civic buildings with nautical themes.
Key Things to Know Before You Buy
Butt Diameter (Base Width)
- The butt diameter is the base width of your pole
- A 20′ pole typically starts with a 5″ base
- Taller poles require a wider base for wind stability
Wall Thickness (Pole Strength)
Wall thickness determines the flagpole’s strength and wind resistance. Common sizes:
- .125 – Standard for most uses
- .156 – Stronger and more durable
- .188 – Heavy-duty option
- .250 / .312 – Rare, extreme-duty applications
Rope System (Halyard Options)
There are two halyard systems to choose from:

External Halyard
- Traditional rope system located outside the pole.
- Cost-effective and easy to operate.
- More exposed to weather and vandalism.

Internal Halyard
- Uses a stainless-steel cable or rope operated by a crank handle.
- Maximum security and long-term durability.
- Ideal for commercial and municipal flagpoles.
